Nick Sethi
Thousand

October 28, 2021 – November 28, 2021

Entrance is proud to present Thousand, New York based artist Nick Sethi’s first solo exhibition. Sethi’s work is primarily concerned with connection, in all its complexities, beauty, and shortcomings; focusing on touch, ritual, decoration, and acute details of daily life as points of departure. After growing up in Florida, Sethi moved to India with his family for his senior year of high school, the birthplace of his parents. It was there that Sethi began using photography as a medium for translation and interconnection. He has since traveled between India and New York City, where he lives and works, making photographs for the last ten years, culminating in a major monograph released by Dashwood books, Khichdi (Kitchari) (2018), as well as countless limited edition books and zines.

In Thousand, Sethi incorporates ephemera and artistic collaborations throughout installations rooted in his experiences in India, creating an environment that expresses the notions contained within his photos in real-time. He will be presenting work in both our ground floor and basement gallery spaces.

Nick Sethi (b. 1989) has been involved in group shows internationally including collaborations with Green River Project in New York City, the Salon Normandie in Paris with The Community (2018), and recently mounted his first institutional group show at Huis Marseille in Amsterdam (2021). Adjacent to his art practice, Sethi works in commercial and editorial fashion, shooting for magazines like Dazed, Interview, Re-Edition, and I-D, and with clients such as Louis Vuitton, Hood By Air, Wales Bonner, Nike, and Uniqlo.
