Nathaniel Matthews
Crown Royal Chess Club

June 3rd, 2018 - Ongoing

A recurring chess club organized by Nathaniel Matthews, meeting at Entrance and elsewhere.

See Nathaniel Matthews’ website and Instagram.

This Sunday at noon, the royal game returns to Entrance. Smoking ephemera will be on display, with past classical compilation cassette tapes and t-shirts available for purchase. Chessmen Butter Cookies and tea will be served, and the F1 Miami Grand Prix will be live streamed at 3:30pm. Please join us for a leisurely Sunday afternoon.

This Sunday we are having our final chess meet at the 60 Wall St. Atrium, due to it being demolished in 2 weeks (knowledge under good authority.) The first meet we had done there about a month ago proved to be a perfect setting for playing chess, but more importantly enjoying the peripheral experience around chess, which is really what this club is about. As we continue on with the club, I'm trying to express that more and more, so that people who don't play well, or don't play at all, still feel welcome to join.

Come join us this Sunday for some casual play of the leisurely game. This unique public space is set for demolition supposedly this summer, so we want to get the most of it before it’s gone! Complimentary cigarettes MIGHT be provided.

Please join us, not this Sunday but next, for a chess meet at MoMA P.S.1.

Please come and join us for a leisurely Sunday, coffee or tea, biscotti and the Sunday paper provided. No experience necessary, all our welcome and encouraged to come.
